Having Trouble Viewing Our Videos?

The most likely problems people experience are:
  1. "I can hear the presentation but I don't see the video" - If this is the problem, then it's an easy fix: you must download and install the TSCC codec. Once you do that, you'll be able to see video.
    • NOTE: If the video is blurry after installing the TSCC codec, check out the next step below
  2. "The video is very blurry (or poor quality). Isn't it supposed to look better?" - The video should most definitely not be blurry. In fact, we probably have the highest quality video that you can find on the web. The reason this occurs, generally, is that you are using Windows Media Player (WMP) and the default settings of WMP 9.0 and higher might cause it to "overlay" a layer on top of our video. Well, thanks Microsoft, but we don't need any extra layers!

    There are two approaches to resolving this issue:
    • Try a different media player! We personally like Camtasia Player and VLC Media Player.
    • Configure Windows Media Player Correctly:
      1. The problem is that the default setting of Windows Media Player (WMP) places an "overlay" on top of our videos - but our videos do not need such an overlay and our videos look worse as a result. You need to find the box that says "Use Overlays" and uncheck it - then your videos will look pretty! NOTE: This is really dependent on the video card you have. Your videos may play great on one machine yet look terrible on another - it just depends on your display settings/drivers. To resolve:
        • For Windows Media Player 9.0:
          1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
          2. Click the Performance tab
          3. Click Advanced
          4. Click to remove the Use overlays check box.
          5. Click OK two times
        • For Windows Media Player 10.0 and 11.0:
          1. Click Plug-ins, and then click Option
          2. Click the Performance tab
          3. Click Advanced
          4. Click to remove the Use overlays check box.
          5. Click OK two times
          6. Click Yes when you receive the following prompt:
            If you are currently playing or paused, this change might result in restarting the media from the beginning. Do you want to apply the new settings?
      You might also wish to investigate whether a new driver is available for your graphics card.
